Netbooks for School Nurses
Our Superintendent for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools, Mary Rochford, envisioned a way to support the health of our students through technology. Once this was shared with Verizon, a proponent of technology in education, they were happy to support it. As a result, 35 Philadelphia school nurses will now have netbooks to use in their work. They will use Health E-tools software and netbooks to support student health. At the Netbooks for School Nurses award presentation, Verizon Pennsylvania president, Gale Givens shared Verizon's support of education, health and technology. “We’re investing in programs that touch people’s lives by focusing on health and family safety in the 21st century.” Thumbs Up, Verizon!
Thinkfinity
Verizon also supports education through Thinkfinity, a K-12 online resource full of FREE lesson plans and classroom ideas. Partnering with organizations such as Read Write Think, Edsitement, Smithsonian, Illuminations and more, they offer a wide array of educational resources for teachers of every subject and every grade. Thumbs Up, Verizon! Thumbs Up also to teachers who take advantage of the many excellent teaching resources found online!
Grant Tips
